— Cut From a Different Cloth

RUNWAY THERAPY: cut from a different cloth

RUNWAY THERAPY: an ALYN Fashion Show / Thursday, April 14, 2022

For as long as I can remember, I have been battling mental health. Things like depression, anxiety, paranoia, enven self harm It's taken me years of trying, failing, and trying again, but I've found that fashion is such an inspiring way for me to heal.

Like any artist, I wear my heart and soul on my sleeve, so I'm turning my pain into a glamourous shield of armor, where every stitch and every thread are reminders of who I used to be.

I have found the version of me that I love the most, and I did it through the self-expression of fashion. When I show up and dress like my best self, I embody her - that glowing version of me, the woman I have fought so hard to become.

When I look good, I feel good.

Runway Therapy is a fashion show that encourages mental health awareness through music, art, design and fashion.

I'm sharing this with you because I know that I'm not alone in the way that fashion can make us feel, no matter what's happening on the inside.

Together, we are helping to thread light on the stigma surrounding mental health. We can empower each other to feel more comfortable starting a conversation and remind each other that it's ok not to be ok - we're all just cut from a different cloth.

Special shoutouts to friends and family for the encouragement, Nichole Carter for the push, Gabriella Caruso for assisting, Kaitlyn Gourley for HMUA, my effortlessly sexy and amazing models, Chris Callen for the creative direction and endless support, and Cody with Solventless Dreams for the badass video.

Runway Therapy, held at Foxtail Nightclub in Pittsburgh, PA, benefitted Hope for the Day, a Chicago-based mental health awareness nonprofit organization. For an immediate mental health crisis, call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 988

RUNWAY THERAPY: THE INTRODUCTION

RUNWAY THERAPY: an ALYN Fashion Show experience started out as something fun for me to do as an outlet for my own mental health. I had no idea at the time how many lives I would be touching that night.

It feels like it has been really hard to be me, for such a long time. They suggest things like therapy, medicine, meditation... but we are all cut from a different cloth. We need different things, and it turns out that producing my own fashion show works fuckin’ great for me.
